Just Turned 18 – what now?
If you are eligible for Pathways, on the wait-list, and you are about to turn 18, here are a few suggestions of things to look into:
- Apply for SSI/Medicaid
- Research Guardianship; we suggest families call the Guardianship Alliance at 303-228-5382
- Males must sign up for Selective Service
- Register to Vote
- Contact Long Term Care Options and inquire about the EBD Waiver, or Elderly, Bild and Disabled Waiver
Lending Library
The Developmental Pathways Lending Library contains assistive technology and adaptive play materials to assist children in accessing a wider variety of toys in ways that build on what they like and what they can do. Volunteers staff the lending library, and for many years the library has been an important resource for families. This past year it moved to a new, larger location at our Aurora office and stocks more equipment and toys. The library accepts new and gently used donations, and either makes them available for families to borrow or donates them to families in need. Over the past year, families received more than 120 items as donations from the library, and there are currently 80 items on loan.
Medicaid Redetermination
In order to ensure a continuation of your services through Developmental Pathways and its service providers, you must fill out and submit your Medicaid Redetermination forms. When you receive these forms from your County’s Human Services Department, fill them out and return to your County. Your County sends out Redetermination forms in the mail. Look for a plain manila envelope from the County that you receive your Medicaid benefits from. Fill them out quickly! Include all documentation! Send it back according to their printed directions! Call your service coordinator at Pathways if you have any questions!

Toileting Tip
Compression shorts – check with your occupational therapist, if you are currently seeing someone, but a tip we just heard about was if toileting is an issue, wearing compression shorts may be helpful as it lets you know when it’s time to go!
